ABA Contributes in Islamic Banking Capacity Development

On Feb 24, 2018, Afghanistan Banks Association (ABA) arranged a workshop to enhance capacity building of the Islamic Banking in the country.
The workshop was attended by ABA Member banks 20 Islamic Banking(IB) employees included IB Managers, Officers, Chief Officers and ABA representative.
The meeting was commenced by Edrees Alimy ABA Research and Communication Officer welcoming remarks. He briefed members on ABA Islamic Banking Committee what is working for improvement of the Islamic banking in Afghanistan. The workshop was delivered by Mr. Yahya Tanin Chief of Islamic Banking AUB, who is also member of ABA Islamic Banking Committee.
The agenda of the workshop mainly focused on Profit distribution mechanism based on weightage. Under the main topic the following topics were also illustrated.
1. Deposit Pool
2. Investment pool
3. Income Pool
4. Working capital
5. Types of profit distribution in Islamic Banking
6. Accounting & Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIF) on profit distribution

During the workshop, a productive presentation was delivered, theoretical as well as practical examples were given to the participants of Islamic banking. The participants had opportunity to raise their questions and practical challenges.
Based on participant’s feedback, the session was fruitful, they gained of new knowledge on Islamic Banking profit distribution and other topics. The participants appreciated ABA initiatives for improvement of the human capacity of the Islamic banking and growth of Islamic Banking in the country.
ABA facilitates capacity building programs in Islamic Banking as well conventional side to strengthen banking sector in the country.
