Traders problems were resolved in regard to withdrawal of USD accounts in provinces

Recently, Afghanistan Banks Association (ABA) was requested by Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) to address businessmen problems on limited withdrawal of USD accounts in provinces. In this respect, Afghanistan Banks Association (ABA) conduced its member banks operation meeting to discuss on how to resolve businessmen problem on withdrawal of USD form banks in provinces, especially borders. The meeting was attended by High Officials from ACCI, Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB), commercial Banks and ABA management. As per banks says, the shortage of USD in provinces, were due to close of banks USD account by DAB , security issue and insufficient transportation. The issue of traders/businessmen as well as banks was discussed in the meeting, all the stakeholders (ABA- DAB- ACCI- Banks) had detailed talks. Finally it was agreed that, ABA should submit an official letter to the central bank (DAB), request for facilitation of USD accounts (services) by DAB in provinces, what the services was previously offered by DAB.
Fortunately, Da Afghanistan Bank(DAB) accepted ABA proposal, and on May 13, 2018 ABA received an official letter from DAB. Based on the letter, DAB promised to facilitate USD services to the commercial banks in provinces and will accept banks USD deposit. Besides, this issue, standardization of Cheque book, Automated Transfer System (ATS), custom verification and custom E payment was also discussed and banks were instructed.
