Mr. Amer Khalil ur Rehman
Mr. Amer Khalil ur Rehman is a professional Islamic Banker with versatile profile spanning almost three decades. He is committed to promoting Islamic Banking at all levels.
He studied accountancy at De Montfort University, Leicester, U.K. and has a Commerce degree from Hailey College of Commerce and a Masters in Banking and Finance from the University of Wales, Bangor, U.K. He has also completed course work for PhD in Islamic Banking and Finance.
He started his career with A. F. Fergusons and Co. (Price Waterhouse Coopers), Chartered Accountants, in 1986. He spent most of 1990s with ANZ Grindlays Bank plc, now Standard Chartered, where he topped their Management Training program and played a key role in successfully introducing Visa Cards. He worked for Askari Bank Ltd. for the next 13 years, where he played key role in introducing Islamic Banking from scratch and also won Star Performer Award. As an Islamic Finance Specialist, he has provided Islamic Banking Consultancy for various institutions and projects in four countries, including advisory on Islamic Micro Finance project for the Islamic Development Bank.
He has a well-established track record as a Professional Islamic Banking Speaker and Trainer at various international forums and prestigious institutions; including NIBAF, IBP, SBP, CII (Council of Islamic Ideology), ICMAP, ICAP, Riphah International University etc. including as Visiting Associate Professor International Islamic University, Islamabad since 2005. He has taught Investment Banking at post graduate level at IBA.
Currently, he is leading Islamic Bank of Afghanistan.
