ABA Convene member bank’s CEO virtual Coordination meeting

In order to normalize the banking activities, support the banking sector and expand Islamic banking in the country, Afghanistan Banks Association (ABA) organized meeting of its member banks. The meeting attended by CEOs and authorized representatives of banks (Afghanistan International Bank, Afghan United Bank, Ghazanfar Bank, Azizi Bank, Islamic Bank of Afghanistan, Bank-e-Millie Afghan, New Kabul Bank, First Micro Finance Bank, Pashtany Bank and Bank Alfalah Ltd) as well as ABA management. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Salem Omid, Chairman, Board of Directors of ABA. Subsequently, the CEOs of banks added that the banking sector forms basic foundations of the countries' economies and needs the government and international partners to cooperate with banks in all areas. Mr. Najibullah Amiri, Executive Director of ABA, provided detailed information about the achievements of ABA in addressing the problems and defending the rights of banks at the national and international levels, and explained the future plans of ABA. Subsequently, Salem Omid, while appreciating ABA efforts, shared his collaboration with international community abroad to attract their support for Afghanistan Banking Sector. Afterwards, the esteemed CEOs of banks expressed their views and suggestions regarding the strengthening of the banking sector, measures to normalize banks and the development of Islamic banking in the country, which were noted by ABA. Recently, banks have requested on ABA to strengthen its coordination and cooperation with the Da Afghanistan Bank (Central Bank) and other stakeholders in addressing challenges.
