Press release on US Seizure of Afghanistan Foreign Reserve

Afghanistan Banks Association (ABA) is deeply saddened by the US confiscation of Afghanistan assets and considers it unfair and unjust, because this wealth belongs to Afghan nation.
The assets were transferred to the United States for financial stability and to facilitate trade and remittance settlements. The United States, has no right to confiscate the wealth of our poor people.
The seizure of Afghan foreign reserve will have dire consequences on Afghanistan's economic situation, poverty and especially on the financial and banking system.
Thus, Afghanistan Banks Association, as a non-political and independent body, calls upon the United States to reconsider its decision and return the wealth of Afghans in order to create economic dynamism and lift the nation out of poverty.
