Date: February 6, 2023

Undoubtedly, initiation of employee capacity building programs is one of the basic pillars of organizations, which on the one hand upsurges the knowledge and skills of employees, makes the entity aware of market innovations, and on the other hand, helps the entities to use new business methods and reach its goals effectively.
In order to increase capacity of banks employees and familiarize them with the new technology of the market and to know the requirements for establishing banking relations with international banks, Afghanistan Banks Association (ABA) organized Sanction Screening & Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment (EWRA) online training on February 6, 2023. Enterprise Wide Risk Assessment (EWRA) describes the process of identifying, evaluating and monitoring the risks of a business unit. This assessment helps business entities adapt their risk management approach to meet evolving regulatory requirements.
Sanction Screening is a mandatory requirement for all banks to screen customer data (potential and existing) against domestic and international sanctions issued by regulatory bodies.
This training was offered by ABA through AJMS Global (The international Training service company). The mentioned firm, headquartered in Dubai, provides professional and specialized training courses for banks worldwide.
In the training program, about 45 employees of ABA’s member banks, that included employees of various departments (compliance, risk management, human resources, credit and operations) participated. The training was provided by highly professional trainers focusing on current systems of international banks in Sanction Screening and EWRA and how new technologies - available software are useful and value for the banks. During the training, the participants raised their ground challenges, where appropriate answers and justified solutions were provided for them. As a result, the participants thanked ABA for providing such initiative tools and called it effective and efficient in improving the capacity of employees in such an unfavorable situation in the country. It is worth mentioning that last week, ABA launched another free training on NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming and effective sales for its member banks, which was warmly appreciated by bank employees.
