A consultative meeting on empowerment of private sector businesses

To amplify private sector businesses, Harakat in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) convened a consultative meeting in Kabul on May 30, 2024.
The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen private sector business in the country by creating greater coordination between different economic sectors, addressing challenges and attracting international support.
High level authorities of Afghan business community, including chamber of agriculture, industry and mining, Afghanistan Builders Association, transportation Association, Carpet Association, and other relevant platforms, Afghanistan Banks Association (ABA) and Afghanistan Microfinance Association joined the meeting.
During the session, discussion was made on nature, structure and mission of the working groups to review the problems of the private sector- financial and banking sector in a sector-wise manner, and take the recommendation to Harakat for further brainstorming.
ABA appreciated the creation of such platforms that strive for improvement of the country's economy and presented its views and suggestions regarding the effectiveness of the working groups based on the past experience.
It should be noted that a secretariat has already been created in Harakat to play coordinating role for the different commercial sectors and raise the voice of the private sector in the national and international arena.
Harakat& IFC, with the cooperation of the government and the private sector, aim is to identify and analyze current challenges facing the private sector and to address them. Effective and efficient coordination between the private sector will ensure that problems are dealt with quickly, priorities are identified and resource wastage is prevented.
It should be noted that the IFC supports the project and will cooperate in addressing challenges.
